Future East Film was established to develop new forms of film in India. We are an artistically driven, global production company creating award-winning films, shareable stories and branded content for our clients.
The company’s first feature film, John & Jane, premiered at the Toronto Film Festival and the Berlinale in 2006, winning numerous awards including an Indian National Award & a European Media Art Award. John & Jane was the first Indian project to be acquired by HBO Films for US release.
Future East’s next feature Miss Lovely had its world premiere at the Cannes Film Festival. It was released internationally in territories including the US, UK, India, Germany, France, Japan, Taiwan and in multiple countries in Latin America and Eastern Europe.
Our subsequent film projects have gone on to win global accolades, premiering at major film festivals including Venice, SXSW, Sundance, New Directors/New Films, Rotterdam and the London Film Festival.
Future East thrives on the tension between art and commerce, working across platforms and media and engaging diverse formats such as Super 8 and iphone cameras. We have exhibited work at the Tate Modern (London), Centre Georges Pompidou (Paris), The Guggenheim (New York/ Berlin), Museum of Modern Art (New York), the Frieze Art Fair (London) and have been involved in the first Indian installation at the 10th Venice Architecture Biennale.
The company’s commercials arm has been part of many of the industry’s most successful campaigns. We continue to work with the world’s biggest brands having produced distinctive spots for Loreal, Mercedes Benz, Toyota, Visa, Sony, Unilever, P&G, Reliance and several others.
Future East has also produced global TV content for broadcasters such as The Discovery Channel, HBO, Arte, Channel 4 & MCM and for digital platforms such as Netflix, Amazon and Jio.
